Bauhaus at Razzmatazz - 15 February 2006
After
frontman Peter Murphy came on 10 minutes early when he played Bikini
in July we took no chances with Bauhaus.
Arriving promptly we needn't have worried as the audience was faced with 40 minutes of dub reggae before the lights dimmed.
The band opened with Burning From The Inside, with Daniel Ash first appearing on stage with piercing guitar, followed by the other band members one by one.
The opening was simply stunning and they kept it up until She's In Parties and The Passion Of Lovers which were sadly lacking something.
However, Bauhaus got back on track with Silent Hedges and finished the set with a storming rendition of Dark Entries.
We got three encores, although it was disappointing not to hear Joy Division's Transmission, a regular outing on this tour, Telegram Sam and Ziggy Stardust and the night ended the only way it could; the magnificently absurd Bela Lugosi's Dead.
All in all an excellent gig - Bauhaus are one of the few bands who sound better live than on record and this is more than two decades after they first split.
