Barcelona restaurants - El Kiosko
It is a clear, cold December morning, one degree below freezing, and the sky is the kind of blue that can only exist in the Mediterranean as I sit, waiting for someone and a plane to arrive. Airports are places where you always have time on your hands, waiting for your plane, for the person you are going to collect, or waiting to be collected. You wait to check in, wait to have your luggage X-rayed and wait to board a plane. As a result airports are good places to have cafes and bars.
El Kiosco seems to be
open at any time of day or night - for a parting beer or, as on this
occasion, a café solo
and bocadillo de jamón
for breakfast. It is close to arrivals and you can sit at one of the
stools to the bar while watching people emerge through the sliding doors
or wondering where people are going to or coming from - the coffee was
good, the bocadillo
too - total price 650 ptas.
Terminal A, Barcelona Airport
NOTE: El Kiosko closed after the terminal building was extended, to be replaced by a chain.
