Barcelona tours
One way of getting the most of your stay in Barcelona is to go on one of the many tours that is available.
These range from the Barcelona tourist bus, which allows you to hop on and off, thereby getting an overview of what the city has to offer and allowing you to see what you really want to see in real detail. You'll still need a guidebook though, because although the bus does have a commentary, it isn't really that good, so the onus is on you. However, it is good value for money
There are also specialist tours, like the half day cycling tour of Barcelona. It gets you where the buses can't and with an English language tour guide you can leave the guidebook at back at your hotel. The pace is slow enough for all ages and fitness levels, your only qualification is the ability to ride a bike. There are many stops, so keen photographers won't miss out on taking plenty of snaps. More conventionally, the walking tour of the gothic quarter takes you around the narrow streets, squares and old buildings found in Barcelona's barri gotic, the gothic quarter.
And what about a gourmet tapas tour of Barcelona? Although tapas aren't particularly traditional to Barcelona they have been adopted, like every other area in Spain, and here you'll try a selection of wines accompanied by tapas of Spanish and Catalan products; cheeses, ham and cured sausages. The wines are a variety of red, white, rose and Cava, the Catalan answer to Champagne.
