Barri Gòtic hotels

The Barri Gòtic is the area located within the walls of the old city of Barcelona. A maze of narrow streets and passageways, the area was once quite run down, but has long been a must for any visitor to Barcelona.

With so many of Barcelona's attractions in this area - the Picasso Museum and the cathedral are just two of them - it makes sense to find a hotel situated here and away from the hustle and bustle of the Ramblas, which at many times of the year is overly touristy.

Hotel Barcino Barcelona ****, Carrer Jaime I, 6
This traditional hotel is in the Barri Gòtic, within easy walking distance of the Ramblas. All rooms have a bathroom and the hotel also has suites with a whirlpool. The restaurant is fairly small and car parking is available.

Hotel Colon Barcelona ****, Av de la Catadral, 7
The Colon is directly opposite the 13th century Cathedral, in the heart of the Barri Gòtic. It is a few minutes walk from the Ramblas and with easy access to the rest of Barcelona. The rooms are traditionally decorated and some overlook the square with a view of the Cathedral. The Colon has a restaurant and car parking.

The Neri was originally a small palace, which dates back to the 18th century. Right next to the cathedral, the rooftop terrace overlooks the rest of the barri Gòtic.

The Rialto has good access to the Ramblas, as well as the Picasso museum and the port. Rooms are well decorated in a traditional style and all have bathrooms. The restaurant specialises in Catalan cuisine.
