Barcelona has become hugely popular since the advent of the low-cost
airlines like EasyJet and is one of the top short stay destinations in
Europe.
The rapid increase in tourist numbers over the last decade means that
hotel accommodation has sometimes struggled to keep up with demand, but
the number of hotels is forecast to increase into the foreseeable future
with both brand new buildings as well as old buildings that have been refurbished
specifically to provide high-class hotel accommodation.
In fact the number of luxury hotels in Barcelona has increased and includes

such as Hotel Claris or the Majestic. One of Barcelona's strong points
is its architecture and some of the top hotels in the city are situated
in former palaces, with glorious facades reminding us of a golden age long
gone.
Where Barcelona is weak is in the budget market. There are just a handful
of 1-star hotels and such is the demand for these places that you need
to book very early to ensure a room.
