However, be wary of the area to the right of Las Ramblas (looking to the sea); although it has pockets of charm it is blighted by petty theft and prostitution, especially midway along Las Ramblas and below. The upper area houses a number of good record shops and is home to MACBA, Barcelona's modern art museum, but you should still be alert while venturing in this area.
